HOW TO USE

Patient Use

First the patient must create a profile to their account on their mobile app. Then the patient must sync their non-invasive blood pressure monitor to their account. This will allow the app’s algorithm to continually check for preeclampsia markers. If the patient does not have a blood pressure monitor with bluetooth capabilities, they may manually enter their results each time they take their blood pressure.

The blood pressure watch will indicate to the mothers when it is time to take a blood pressure reading. The watch’s interface will guide the patient to hold up their arm in the correct gesture so that an accurate reading can be taken. If the patient is holding up their arm too high or too low, the watch will tell them how to adjust their arm. When the reading is being taken, the patient should stay still until the reading is completed.

A urine collection cup with an extended handle will be used for easier urine collection. The patient will then dip the urine stick into the cup and use their mobile device app to analyze the colorimetric assay. Patients should first open the app and follow the onscreen instructions for further detail on when to take a picture of the urine test strip. The image processing algorithm will help reduce possible errors of misidentification. After the urine strip has been processed, the patients should flush their used urine sample down the toilet and sanitize the collection cup.

The app’s algorithm will retest for potential markers after each new input of data, and it will alert the patient if there has not been any new data after a 24-hour period. If any markers are identified, the app will notify the patient and remind the patient to call a doctor to schedule further testing.
